I've bought a new puppy...
A springer spaniel. She's not old enough to leave her mother yet but I don't think I've felt so excited (child births aside) since I found a Deluxe Subbuteo set in the airing cupboard when I was 7, and realising that it was my Christmas present and I'd have it in a couple of days.

I've had a Springer before and they're hard work as puppies, but they grow into the kindest, most lovely species of any kind.

Puppies are great. Not keen on spaniels though

Nurse, you should feel happy you don't live in a neighbourhood full of West Ham supporters......and then Martin Allen moves in next door to you........

Re: I've bought a new puppy...
I purposely got the dog to piss off our neighbours.

15 months of continuous, deafening building works they've put us through since the start of lockdown. Every month they promise it will finish but then rolls on for another month.

I've even taught him how to bark on command. Most satisfying. :D

Re: I've bought a new puppy...
I don't dislike individual dogs I meet (e.g. those belonging to my friends/family) but the barking/yapping from neighbours' dogs drives me insane. It genuinely makes me stressed and miserable.

Re: I've bought a new puppy...
Yeah I have no time for continually tapping little rat dogs. I get other people don’t like dogs. But then I’m not a fan of cats and I’d rather hear a dog bark than find another person’s pet’s shit in my garden

If only it was just the one neighbour...

Don't confuse him Nurse, he probably thinks 'obtuse' is a new ride at Disneyland.

Re: I've bought a new puppy...
Nurse... shame you have that problem and I'd probably pay the person a visit in the same situation... sounds like the dog should be with someone else rather than going insane in someones back garden... we have down our Close of about 30 houses probably about 18 dogs... you don't hear a peep out of them ... well apart from the one bark piss one bark can I come back in please master...

Re: I've bought a new puppy...
Oh I see. You deliberately misinterpreted my post in order to be obtuse, rather than address honestly the point you knew I was making. I'm sorry. I overestimated you. 😉

Seriously, dog owners know full well if their fucking animals are HABITUAL barkers/yappers and when they chuck them outside they know that's exactly what the dogs are going to do. That's the point I was making.

Hang on Pony all I can be held accountable for is my own hound not every dog owner... same as my own kid... agreed though Cyclists and Vegans are cunts ... far more disruptive to society than a dog

Nurse

You can’t reason with a dog owner.

For dog owner, also read:

Any mother of any baby
Cyclists
Vegans

Re: I've bought a new puppy...
Owners shouldn't let their dogs outside in the garden if they're going to bark.

Like I said.... how do you know if your dog is going to bark?? Bit like saying Husbands should not let their wives outside in the garden if they are going to shout and swear a lot.... crystal ball and all that

Sorry to hear you had to re-home your wife.

Seriously, hope she is on the mend mate.

Re: I've bought a new puppy...
Hang on, Sold...in your previous post to me you appeared to find it very conceivable that a dog owner 'wouldn't be able to hear' his fucking animal barking in his own back garden. Now you're back-pedalling and saying you couldn't imagine such a thing/certainly not you/nobody you know would ever...

Hoist by your own petard, my love.

U sound like Peroni whom I spoke to last night about it!
Yes I gotta set boundaries. Thing is, he was an import so I felt the last thing he needed was a crate as he was brought over on one. Avoided that and now I sense he has nowhere to retreat to so, saw this House/kennel thing with cooling floor and gonna get it at weekend. He can then retreat to it when scared. It won't be as easy as that but we are doing all we can

Re: I've bought a new puppy...
Actually I can think of only one complaint made down our road... and that was recent... house on the end the young girlfriend of the son that lived there went mental as her boyfriend would not give her phone back and apparently.... by the high pitched screams that set off all the neighbourhood dogs .... it had photo's of her grandad on it... anyway ended up with her picking up a load of masonary and bricks and doing every window of his newly repaired (as he had the word CUNT scratched into his bonnet)... red fiesta.... best excitement seen down our road in 25+ years

Re: I've bought a new puppy...
To be fair Nurse I don't know any dog owner who does that... must be the circles you live in... come and live next door to me... my dog will bark to go out to have a piss... then bark to come back in... if you want to make a complaint about that then be my guess..... Fucking animal indeed...

Re: I've bought a new puppy...
Don't get me started on Neighbours, Sold. I used to have a house across the road from the village church, and the clock chimed every hour. New people moved in a couple of doors away and within a couple of weeks put in a complaint about the church bell sounding every hour.

Maybe thirty yards away was the village pub and they also complained about that. Too much noise from people leaving.

Why buy a house opposite a church and down the road from a pub if these things offend you?
